Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DocuAnalyzer — how it works, what it covers, and how your data is handled.

General

What is DocuAnalyzer?

DocuAnalyzer is a document analysis platform. It analyzes contracts, leases, NDAs, employment agreements, and court documents for red flags and key terms — all in seconds, without requiring legal expertise.

Is DocuAnalyzer a law firm or legal service?

No. DocuAnalyzer provides informational analysis only — it is not a substitute for legal advice. Our tools help you understand what your documents say and identify issues that may warrant attention. For significant legal matters, always consult a qualified attorney.

How does DocuAnalyzer analyze documents?

DocuAnalyzer uses advanced language processing technology to analyze document text. It understands contract structure, standard clause types, and common risk patterns to deliver fast, accurate analysis.

Do I need to create an account to use DocuAnalyzer?

You must create a free account to use DocuAnalyzer — no credit card required. When you sign up, you receive 3 free credits automatically. Creating an account also lets you track your analysis history and access all tools.

What file types are supported?

We support PDF uploads and plain text input for all tools. The collection letter and medical bill analyzers also accept image uploads (JPG, PNG, WebP) since these documents often come as photos or screenshots.

How many tools does DocuAnalyzer have?

DocuAnalyzer currently has 15 tools organized into four categories: Employment & Career (Employment Contract, Non-Compete Agreement, Severance Agreement), Contracts & Legal (Contract Analyzer, NDA Analyzer, Business Purchase Agreement, Promissory Note/Loan, Power of Attorney), Property & Finance (Lease Analyzer, HOA/CC&R Documents, Insurance Policy, Vehicle Purchase, Medical Bills), and Debt & Court (Court Documents, Collection Letters).

Contract Analysis

What types of contracts can DocuAnalyzer analyze?

DocuAnalyzer can analyze any text-based contract, including NDAs, freelance and service agreements, employment contracts, commercial and residential leases, purchase agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and more. We also have specialized analyzers for leases, NDAs, and employment contracts that provide more targeted analysis.

How do I submit a contract for analysis?

Simply paste the contract text directly into the analyzer. You can also upload a PDF or Word document. DocuAnalyzer reads the full text and returns a structured analysis within seconds.

What does the contract analysis include?

A contract analysis includes: an overall risk score, a plain-English summary of key terms, a list of red flags and potentially unfavorable clauses, identification of missing standard protections, and specific recommendations for what to review or negotiate.

What is a contract risk score?

A risk score (1–10) is a composite assessment of how favorable or potentially risky a contract is. It considers unfavorable clauses, missing protections, ambiguous language, and unusual provisions. Low (1–3) means generally standard; medium (4–6) means several items deserve attention; high (7–10) means significant issues that warrant careful review.

Can DocuAnalyzer analyze contracts in languages other than English?

DocuAnalyzer is optimized for English-language contracts. Analysis quality for non-English documents may be reduced.

What is the NDA Analyzer and how is it different from the general Contract Analyzer?

The NDA Analyzer is a specialized tool tuned specifically for non-disclosure agreements. It checks for NDA-specific issues like overly broad confidentiality definitions, missing time limits, embedded non-compete clauses, and one-sided obligations. The general Contract Analyzer handles any contract type.

What does the Lease Analyzer check for?

The Lease Analyzer examines residential and commercial leases for: automatic renewal clauses, excessive security deposit requirements, unreasonable landlord entry rights, vague move-out conditions, early termination penalties, rent escalation terms, subletting restrictions, and maintenance responsibility assignments.

What does the Non-Compete Analyzer check for?

The Non-Compete Analyzer reviews your non-compete agreement for geographic scope and duration, how broadly 'competition' is defined, whether it would likely be enforceable in your state (e.g., California and Minnesota effectively ban them), whether garden leave pay is included, and hidden non-solicitation clauses that restrict contact with former clients or colleagues.

What does the Severance Agreement Analyzer check for?

The Severance Analyzer identifies what legal claims you're waiving, whether the ADEA 21-day review period applies (required for workers 40+), COBRA continuation terms, equity vesting and option exercise windows, non-disparagement scope, and whether a reference letter was committed to in writing.

What does the Medical Bill Analyzer check for?

The Medical Bill Analyzer looks for common billing errors including duplicate charges, upcoding (billing a simple visit as a complex one), unbundling (splitting procedures that should be billed together), balance billing above the network-allowed amount, and incorrect insurance payment application. It also explains your patient rights and recommends next steps.

Court Documents

What types of court documents can DocuAnalyzer analyze?

DocuAnalyzer can analyze any court filing, including complaints and summons, motions (to dismiss, for summary judgment, etc.), court orders and injunctions, subpoenas, judgments, settlement agreements, and debt collection lawsuits. If you've received a legal filing and aren't sure what it means, this tool is for you.

What does the Court Document Analyzer tell me?

The analysis breaks down the document type, all parties involved and their roles, key claims or counts being asserted, what relief is being sought, critical deadlines you must act on, important findings, and a plain-English recommendation for what to do next.

What are 'credit dispute opportunities' in the court document analysis?

When a court document involves debt collection or credit-related claims, the analyzer identifies potential consumer protection rights you may have. This includes FDCPA violations (e.g., a collector suing on a time-barred debt), FCRA issues (inaccurate credit reporting), and statute of limitations problems. These are flagged as informational — always consult an attorney before taking action.

I received a lawsuit — can DocuAnalyzer help me respond to it?

DocuAnalyzer can help you understand what the lawsuit says, who is suing you, what they want, and how long you have to respond. It cannot draft a legal response or represent you in court. If you've been served, you typically have 20–30 days to respond depending on your jurisdiction — consult an attorney promptly.

What is a subpoena and what should I do if I receive one?

A subpoena is a legal order requiring you to produce documents or testimony. Ignoring a subpoena can result in contempt of court. The Court Document Analyzer will explain what is being requested and any applicable deadlines. However, you should consult an attorney before responding to ensure your rights are protected.
